My acrylic painting “Forgotten” has been selected as a Finalist in the AcrylicWorks 13: The Best of Acrylic Art Competition. As a finalist, “Forgotten” will be featured in a special issue of Artists Magazine hitting newsstands September 2026.

What’s New at Pipe Dream Studio this Spring
Spring is finally showing her muscle! And everything around me is changing ~ just the most magical time of year! I am enjoying painting with acrylics for a change of pace ( I will never stop painting with my watercolors) and they have been well received by customers, friends, other artists and they have sold well. I may concentrate on them for a while.
Plein Aire Painting
Painting Plein Air is a Whole Body Experience as well as a visual experience. When artists step out into nature to paint we are transformed. We become more aware; our sense of smell, hearing, sight and touch are all heightened by everything that surrounds us. We can’t help but be affected by the environment for we are part of what surrounds us. Our senses are just below the surface in our insular world -inside our studios, our homes, our work. But step outside – and feel your eyes adjust to the light, react to colors, focus on distance, focus on a flower at your feet, hear the birds, the humming of bees, a chain saw in the distance, feel a warm breeze, touch the craggy bark of a tree or the smooth surface of a rock – we are changed. Perhaps we revert back to an earlier time when our senses were more important to our survival. I can’t help but think that all of these natural instincts affect our painting ~making the plein aire venue an integral experience for artists as we step out of our studios.
Tribute
Drive by and take a peek at “Tribute” my 4′ x 16′ mural I painted over the winter. Forever now on my barn wall is every horse that gifted us with their presence in our barn at 30 Hale Hill Rd. in Swanzey. Trust the Water
Trusting the water, I let it go, let it mix with paint and flow around dry areas on the paper… creating abstract patterns I use in my reflections. Glazing brings exciting movement and color to a pond’s surface. I have come to realize that… experimenting in this way pushes me beyond comfort and routine where failure is both a likelihood and a necessity.
